Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United’s top midfielder target ahead of the transfer window

Manchester United have reportedly identified Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba as their top transfer priority, with the club already drawing up an internal shortlist ahead of the upcoming window.

According to information shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Baleba sits at the very top of United’s midfield targets, ahead of alternatives such as João Gomes Anderson and Adam Wharton. While all three players are admired by the recruitment department, Baleba is understood to be the standout option.

“If there’s a player Manchester United put on top, top, top of their list, for sure it’s Carlos Baleba,” Romano stated. He added that although Anderson and Wharton remain on the list, Baleba has consistently been viewed as the preferred choice, particularly in the context of Rúben Amorim’s tactical vision.

The 20-year-old Cameroon international has impressed since joining Brighton from Lille, earning praise for his physical presence, press resistance, and ability to carry the ball through midfield.
