FACT-CHECK | Did Naga Chaitanya-Sobhita Dhulipala sell their wedding rights to Netflix for Rs 50 crore?

On Thursday, news started circulating that soon-to-be-wed Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala sold streaming rights for their wedding to an OTT platform. According to these reports, it was sold for a whopping Rs 50 crore to Netflix.

However, a source close to the couple told the Hindustan Times that these claims are false. “There is absolutely no truth to these reports. The rumours around selling their wedding film is purely speculative and far from any truth.”

The couple is set to marry on December 4 in Hyderabad, surrounded by close family and friends. The ceremony will take place at Annapurna Studios, which was founded by Naga Chaitanya’s grandfather.

Chaitanya, 38, and Sobhita, 32, were rumoured to have been dating since 2022 after they were spotted on vacation in Europe. The actors got engaged on August 8, confirmed by Chaitanya’s father and Telugu superstar, Nagarjuna. “Congratulations to the happy couple! Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness. God bless,” the Manmadhudu actor wrote on X (formerly Twitter). A haldi ceremony for Sobhita was conducted in late October, in Visakhapatnam.

Chaitanya will be seen next, alongside Sai Pallavi, in Chandoo Mondeti’s Thandel, scheduled for a 2025 release. Meanwhile, Sobhita played a supporting role in Dev Patel’s Monkey Man, and a lead role in Hindi film Love, Sitara.
