Factory manufacturing fake products ENO and Nescafé busted in Delhi; 4 accused arrested

New Delhi. Taking major action against adulterated and counterfeit goods in the capital, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted an illegal factory. This factory was running in Madhu Vihar area, where fake ENO and Nescafé coffee was being prepared. According to the police, counterfeit products manufactured through this racket were being supplied across the country, which could pose a serious threat to the health of the common people. During the raid, the police seized counterfeit goods worth about Rs 20 lakh. Four accused have been arrested in this case. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused used to prepare fake products by packaging them like genuine brands, so that consumers can easily get cheated.

Taking action against a large network of counterfeit products, the Cyber ​​Cell and Southern Range Crime Branch team of Delhi Police have busted an illegal manufacturing unit by raiding Madhu Vihar area. The police had received secret information about this racket, after which the joint team took action. During the raid, it was revealed that the accused were renting two flats and producing and packaging fake ENO and Nescafé coffee there.

Police reached the spot and saw that packaging and production work was going on with the help of machines. During the action, the team carried out the entire operation in such a way that none of the accused got a chance to escape. According to police officials, this network was working in a highly organized manner and the counterfeit products were being supplied at different places.

During the raid, police found about 1 lakh fake ENO sachets and 50 thousand fake Nescafé coffee packets. Apart from this, about 500 kg of coffee powder, acid filled drums, packaging machines, foil rolls, stickers, boxes and cartons were also seized. According to the investigation, 68,256 ready-made sachets, thousands of empty boxes and 240 cartons belonging to ENO were also recovered from the spot. Police have also seized 36,480 ready packets of Nescafé brand and 322 kg of coffee powder along with a large quantity of packaging material.

During interrogation, the main accused Uttam Das and Papai Das revealed that this factory was active for the last two months and they were working on the instructions of Nitin Bhardwaj, who is said to be the mastermind of this entire racket. According to the police, with the help of technical monitoring and surveillance, Nitin Bhardwaj was arrested from Sahastradhara (Dehradun). After this, on his information, another accused Sanjay Bansal was caught from Kashmiri Gate area. Investigation has revealed that it was an organized criminal gang, which manufactured fake products like ENO and coffee and supplied them across the country by packaging them like genuine brands.

The fake ENO and coffee products seized by the Crime Branch have now also been examined by the representatives of the concerned companies. The companies have clearly stated that all the recovered products are completely fake and have no connection with their brand. The investigation also revealed that the accused did not have any valid manufacturing or distribution license. That means this entire operation was being run without permission and illegally. According to officials, the accused were misleading people by creating packaging similar to the original brand and these counterfeit products were being supplied in the market, posing a serious threat to the health of consumers.

Taking strict legal action, Delhi Police has registered a case under sections 318(4), 336, 340, 275 and 61(2) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). These sections are considered equivalent to sections 420, 273, 468, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to police officials, now the focus of the investigation is on uncovering the supply chain, source of raw materials and distribution system of this entire network. It is being ascertained from where the materials for fake products were being brought and in which states they were being supplied. Investigating agencies say that it was an organized gang, which was copying branded products and supplying them across the country. Officials have made it clear that continuous action will continue in the future to eliminate this entire racket.
