1,100 emails and a stir! Man who threatened to bomb Delhi High Court and schools arrested from Mysore

Delhi Police Man arrested in Karnataka: In many states including Delhi, the accused who issued bomb threats in schools, high courts and government offices has been arrested. Delhi Police caught the accused youth from Mysore, Karnataka. The accused has been identified as 47-year-old Srinivas Lewis. A laptop and several SIM cards have been recovered from the arrested accused, which have been confiscated by the police.

The police produced the accused in the Karnataka Mysore court, from where he will be brought to Delhi on transit remand. He will be further interrogated in Delhi. Police are also investigating whether the accused did this work alone or took help from someone else. The laptop and other digital materials of the accused are being examined. Initial investigation has revealed that he had sent around 1,100 threatening e-mails.

Threatening mail sent to High Court judge also

According to an officer of Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Srinivas Lewis was caught in Vrindavan Layout, Mysore on Thursday. Investigation revealed that the accused used to send threatening e-mails and messages from different places by hiding his identity. He had also sent a threatening e-mail to a judge of the Delhi High Court, after which a case was registered against the unknown accused. After several weeks of technical investigation, he was identified and during interrogation he confessed to sending the threat.

The accused is suffering from mental stress

Police said that Srinivas Lewis is a resident of Bengaluru, is a post graduate and is currently unemployed. He lives with his mother, who is a retired government employee. Preliminary investigation suggests that he was suffering from mental stress, due to which he deliberately targeted courts, schools and colleges.

Strict security arrangements were made

Due to Srinivas’s threats, security had to be increased in many institutions, people had to be evacuated and functioning of many places was affected. Police continue to trace the threatened locations and coordinate with law enforcement agencies of various states.
