Fake CBI digitally arrested an old man, cheated him of Rs 2.5 crore by telling him it was a porn-money laundering case

A case of cyber fraud and digital arrest has come to light from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Cyber ​​criminals duped a retired old man of about 2.55 crore rupees. The fraudsters claimed to be CBI officers and said that a case has been registered against him in porn and money laundering cases. Scared by this, the Madhav Nagar resident slowly handed over such a huge amount to the cyber criminals. By the time he understood the matter, it was too late.

He told himself to be a CBI officer

The incident took place in Mangal Colony of Madhav Nagar police station area of ​​Ujjain. 76-year-old Ravindra Kulkarni, who lives here, is retired from Hindustan Copper Limited. He has two sons who often stay out for work. He lives with his wife Anamika. On the night of September 10, he received a WhatsApp call. The person calling introduced himself as a CBI officer and said that a case has been registered against him in Mumbai's Tilaknagar police station in connection with a porn video. The fake officers said that this carries a jail term of three years and a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh. This upset the Kulkarni couple.

Digital arrest for three days

Before they could mention this to anyone, they received another phone call. The caller introduced himself as SI Hemraj Koli of Andheri police station in Mumbai. The accused deceived the elderly couple and intimidated them and forbade them from meeting, complaining or talking to anyone. The accused kept threatening them continuously, due to which they did not go out of the house for three days and remained locked in the house. After this, when they realized that they had been cheated, they went to the police station and filed a complaint.

On September 20, the couple reached Madhav Nagar and lodged a complaint at the Madhav Nagar police station. In this entire case, Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma says that a 74-year-old elderly couple living in Ujjain's Madhavgarh police station area has been defrauded of more than Rs 2.5 crore in the name of digital arrest. The accused had introduced themselves as CBI officers. And had threatened the elderly couple to implicate them in a pornographic video case. A complaint has been registered in the case, the cyber team has also been activated, the accused will be caught soon.
