How does a scam happen?
These online fraudsters deceive people by creating real looking fake websites like Amazon or Flipkart. When you take delivery of the goods, these miscreants make you scan a QR code on the pretext of cash on delivery, due to which money is deducted from your account.
Many times these fraudsters pretend to be bank employees to pass fake EMI and ask for OTP, UPI PIN or CVV number on the back of the ATM card from you over the phone. Along with this, they send a refund link saying ‘Your order has failed’, on clicking which a virus gets infected in your mobile and your entire phone comes under their control.
