100 grams chickpeas

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 inch ginger

2 green chillies

1 medium onion

salt as required

1 tablespoon wasabi sauce

1 medium capsicum (green chilli)

5 garlic

1 handful coriander leaves

500 ml vegetable oil

5 tbsp mayonnaise

Step 1 Soak chickpeas and cook for 10-15 minutes

To make crunchy falafel, add soaked chickpeas to a pressure cooker and add enough water to boil them. Place the pressure cooker on medium flame and boil the chickpeas for 10-15 minutes. Once done, take it off the flame and drain off the excess water. Put the chickpeas in a bowl and mash them with a masher.

Step 2 Prepare the Falafel Mixture

Add mashed chickpeas, chopped capsicum, ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander leaves, onion and salt in the mixer-grinder. Grind all the ingredients together and put the mixture in a bowl, and add baking powder to it. Knead this mixture into a dough and shape it into medium sized oval balls and flatten them slightly using your palms.

Step 3 Fry the Flattened Falafel Patties

Now, heat refined oil in a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame. When the oil is hot enough, add the flat patties. Fry them until they turn golden brown. Once done, place the fried patties on a plate covered with absorbent paper to absorb excess oil.

Step 4 Prepare the Wasabi Mayonnaise and serve hot

Finally, prepare the dip by mixing together the wasabi sauce and mayonnaise. Once ready, serve the falafel with this wasabi mayonnaise and enjoy!
