Family breaks ties with Dr. Umar, the terrorist who carried out the blast at Red Fort, remains also unclaimed
More than a month has passed in the mortuary of Lok Nayak Hospital in the capital Delhi, but some remains of suicide bomber Omar un-Nabi are still lying unclaimed. These include a piece of one of his legs and some remains of meat, which no one has come to collect till now. According to hospital officials, the attacker’s family has refused to accept these remains. In such a situation, the administration is in a state of confusion regarding the further process as per the rules and further action is being considered under the legal guidelines.
Umar was a terrorist disguised as a doctor
Umar Un-Nabi, a resident of Pulwama, Kashmir, was not an ordinary person. He completed MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar in the year 2017. He was unmarried and worked as an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana.
During the last few years, Omar also worked in various hospitals in Srinagar, Anantnag and Faridabad. Despite being an educated medical professional, according to the investigating agencies he gradually started leaning towards fundamentalist ideology, behind which a dangerous conspiracy was hidden.
Explosion near Red Fort
At around 8 am on the morning of 10 November, Umar un-Nabi entered Delhi. He was alone in his Hyundai i20 car. After roaming in East, Central and South Delhi, he reached the parking lot of Sunehri Masjid in the afternoon. Sat there in the car for about three hours, probably making final preparations. As soon as we left the parking lot at 6:30 pm, an explosion occurred just minutes later. The CCTV footage obtained during the investigation clearly showed that Umar was alone in the entire incident, and there was no indication of the presence of any other person.
DNA revealed the secret
After the explosion, part of a leg was recovered from the pieces of the car. Suspicion fell on Umar, after which his mother and brother were called to Delhi from Pulwama. The DNA test conducted during the investigation confirmed that the remains were those of Umar un-Nabi. Police scanned hundreds of CCTV footage and traced his route from Faridabad to Delhi. Initial findings of the investigation indicated that Umar was part of a larger terrorist module, which the Jammu and Kashmir Police had already begun to dismantle.
Dangerous network of doctors
Umar un-Nabi was considered close to Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Adeel Rather, who were arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police in October with 2800 kg of RDX. The investigation of this case is now with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A case has been registered against Omar under UAPA, Explosive Substances Act and Indian Penal Code. The Special Cell of Delhi Police is also cooperating with the NIA in this investigation and forensic and technical evidence is continuously being collected.
