There was mourning in Neeva village of Banthra police station area on Friday when Roop Narayan Chaurasia (55), his wife Taravati (50) and 30-year-old son Sandeep consumed poisonous substance. All three were immediately taken to the hospital, but doctors declared Taravati and Sandeep dead. Roop Narayan’s condition remains very critical and he has been kept on life support system in the ICU.

According to information received from family members, the Chaurasia family used to earn their living by running a small tea hotel in the village. The family had taken a loan from the bank for their needs, which they were unable to repay. It is being told that two days ago the bank employees had pasted the notice of attachment or outstanding payment on the door of the house. This notice hurt the self-esteem of the family so deeply that they thought it better to embrace death. Police have also found a suicide note from the spot, in which he has held himself responsible for this drastic step.
