Famous actress dies after prolonged illness, big shock for South film industry

Komala Menon passes away: Neyyattinkara Komalam aka Komala Menon, one of the first actresses of Malayalam cinema, has passed away at the age of 96. On October 15, he was admitted to a private hospital in Parasala, Kerala due to a cardiac ailment. The veteran actress breathed her last on Thursday, October 17 and said goodbye to the world forever.

The funeral will take place today

The last rites of the veteran actress will be performed today i.e. on October 18 at around 12.30 pm in Vazhuthur. Actress M. Chandrasekhar Menon lost her husband a few years ago and was living with some of her relatives due to his age-related ailments.

Komala Menon had to face opposition for choosing this career.

Coming from a conservative family, Komala Menon faced strong opposition from her relatives to pursue an acting career. Because of this, despite receiving many offers from production houses, he decided to retire at the age of 21. Then after a gap of 22 years, he made a comeback by acting in the film 'Aradhana' directed by Madhu. In 1994, Komala Menon was awarded honorary membership by the 'Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes' (AMMA).
