Famous Bollywood director Shyam Benegal passed away today i.e. on 23rd December at 6:30 pm. He was ill for a long time. The director's daughter Pia Benegal has confirmed his death. He died at Wockart Hospital, Mumbai Central. He celebrated his 90th birthday on 14 December with his friends and family.

The film has been shot in Bangladesh. While announcing this film, Benegal had said that bringing the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on screen has been a difficult task for him. Mujib was a very good friend of India.
