Fan Bingbing sole actress invited to Hong Kong tycoon Cecil Chao’s Christmas party

According to HK01Fan donned a dragon-themed ensemble and danced with Cecil, marking her inaugural visit to his mansion, which she described as a “special property” that would appeal to many for a tour.

Oriental Daily highlighted that the dance between Fan and Cecil was a standout moment of the party, contributing to the festive mood as the year draws to a close.

Cecil commended Fan as an outstanding actress, familiar with many of her performances. He gave her a tour of his self-designed mansion, which is decorated with Ming dynasty screens, works from a Spanish sculptor, and ancient unicorn figures.

Cecil’s home is frequently used as a filming location, and he claims that he donates the rental proceeds to charity. The mansion, constructed across several adjacent plots, boasts a large swimming pool and ocean views. Employing nine housekeepers for daily maintenance of the property, Cecil occupies only a portion of his home, which alone is valued at more than HK$500 million (US$64.3 million).

At 88, Cecil heads Cheuk Nang (Holdings) Ltd, a Hong Kong property development and investment firm focusing on residential and commercial projects in the region. His father Chao Tsong-yea, a prominent shipping magnate, was dubbed the King of Sea Transport in Hong Kong.

Cecil, often referred to in the press as the “playboy tycoon,” according to the South China Morning Post. He has never married and has fathered three children with three different women.

In 2012, he made headlines by offering HK$500 million to any man who could win his daughter Gigi’s heart, who at the time was in a same-sex relationship. He later doubled this offer before withdrawing it two years afterward.

Fan, who entered the entertainment industry at 17 and is now 43, has achieved international fame as an actress, model, television producer, and singer. She was named in Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2017.

Since being fined US$128 million for tax evasion in 2018, she has maintained a low profile. Recently, she has been active at international events and has re-engaged with her fans on social platforms like Xiaohongshu and Douyin, sharing updates about her life in Hong Kong.
