Fans enraged as Babar Azam is dropped from Bangladesh series
Pakistan faces a disappointing Super 8 exit at the 2026 T20 World Cup last week that resulted in chaos.
Leading up to the ODI series against Bangladesh, the team management is receiving flake for the selection.
As announced on March 4, star batter Babar Azam has been dropped from the 15-member squad for the three-match series.
Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the team as six uncapped players have been added to the mix.
Fans are questioning the exclusion of Babar from the ODI squad, presumably on the basis of his T20I performance.
One wrote “babar azam is dropped from ODIs on the basis of his t20 performance and there might be no coming back from this.”
Other exclusions worth noticing were Saim Ayub, spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and wicket keeper Haseebullah Khan.
This series is also first in a row of ODI matches that the team will use to prepare for the upcoming 2027 ODI World Cup that is to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Pakistan will face Bangladesh in three matches, starting March 11. All matches will be played at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
