Farhan Akhtar opens up about delays in ‘Jee Le Zaraa’
Actor-director Farhan Akhtar has spoken about the long delay around his planned road-trip film, which was first announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
At the time, the project created excitement for its focus on female friendship and travel. But years later, the film has yet to begin shooting, with ongoing speculation that it may now move ahead with a different cast.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India the 52-year-old described the process as difficult and unpredictable.
Answering the question about movie he said, “There is some kind of chaotic design to all of it. I couldn’t write it down and tell you, but it comes from whatever feels right in that I really must do this.
It is going to be an experience that if I don’t do, I will miss…It’s been four and a half years of me as a director trying to put a film together, and for various reasons, one wheel or the other keeps falling off.”
The Toofan actor added, “I feel that in some way, the universe is testing me, to see how badly do I want it. So, I am just waiting for that final wheel to be put back in place.”
The filmmaker did not confirm whether the original cast is still attached. “There are too many rumours doing the rounds about too many things,” he said, adding that he prefers to share updates only when plans are firm.
Farhan further said he is taking time to reflect. “I really need to think very seriously about what I want to do next as a director… I just need to catch my breath.”
The film was meant to mark his return to direction after Don 2. While delays were initially linked to scheduling issues, the uncertainty now seems wider.
On the acting front, he was last seen in the war drama 120 Bahadur.
