Farmer ID is mandatory for selling wheat at all purchasing centers in the district: Devendra Kumar Singh

Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Registrar Sonbhadra Devendra Kumar Singh has said that wheat procurement has started from the month of April. But before selling wheat at the centre, it will be necessary for the farmers to get farmer registration done. The Assistant Commissioner said that the Ministry of Farmers Welfare, Government of India has clarified that in future the installments of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi will be given only to those farmers who have the Farmer Identity Card.

In the same sequence, the state government has also decided that Farmer ID will be made mandatory in all the beneficiary schemes of the Agriculture Department including Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cooperative and Minor Irrigation Department. In the first phase, the Agriculture Department will make the Farmer ID card the basis in the distribution of fertilizers, seeds, pesticides and other agricultural inputs and in the selection of beneficiaries.

Along with this, farmer identity card will also be mandatory for purchasing wheat, paddy, pulses, mustard etc. at the minimum support price MSP. Procurement will be done only after verifying the identity cards of the farmers at the procurement centres. The Assistant Commissioner said that at present the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in the state is being done through POS machines on the IFMS portal, which will be linked to the Farmer ID and Farmer Registry from May.

At the same time, Farmer Identity Card has been made mandatory by the Food and Logistics Department and Agriculture Department with immediate effect in all purchases made on MSP. In this regard, all the farmer brothers are requested to immediately avail the benefits of the wheat purchasing scheme by getting the farmer registry done.
