Farmers announced march to Delhi at Shambhu border, also gave date, read full update
New Delhi. The farmers who have been standing at the Shambhu border for the last 9 months have announced their march to Delhi. Farmers held a press conference in Chandigarh today and said that they will march to Delhi on December 6. Farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal warned that they would go on a hunger strike on November 26. The government will be given 10 days time from the day Khanori sits on hunger strike at the border. If a solution is found then fine, otherwise we will march to Delhi on 6th December.
The leaders said that the central government had accepted the demands of the farmers in writing while ending the agitation in Delhi, but has not yet fulfilled the demands. He said that the state government is also failing to provide the required DAP to the farmers.
This time we will go on foot, not in tractor-trolleys.
Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that despite the orders of the court, the border has not been opened. He has been sitting silent for 9 months, the government has not given any solution. He said that on December 6, farmers will unite and march towards Delhi from Shambhu border. This time he will travel towards Delhi on foot. During this period, farmers will not move forward with tractors and trolleys. Farmer organizations of Punjab, Haryana and other states have been informed about the Delhi march and soon the farmer organizations will unite at Shambhu Border. Pandher demanded from the government that they should be given space for demonstration in Delhi.
Dallewal will start hunger strike from 26th November
United Kisan Morcha leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal will start a hunger strike from November 26 to get his demands fulfilled by the government. Leaders of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (India) and United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) had made this announcement two days ago at Kisan Bhawan, Chandigarh. Jagjit Singh Dallewal will sit on a fast unto death at Khanauri border front and will continue the fast till his last breath. If Dallewal dies during the fast, the central and state governments will be responsible for it.
The matter has reached the Supreme Court
Farmers had started the movement last year for many demands including MSP of crops. Farmers of Punjab had set out to march to Delhi in February to press for their demands. They were stopped in Haryana, since then the farmers have been staging a protest at the Shambhu border. The matter of border closure has reached the Supreme Court.
