Banana Price 1kg: Farmer’s banana is selling for 50 paise…in Delhi it is being sold at Rs 86 per kg, Jagan got angry not just like that

Banana Farmers Protest: Recently you must have read the news that farmers are throwing onions on the roads in Madhya Pradesh. The reason for this is that they are forced to sell onions at Re 1 per kg in the market. This is not even covering its cost. Therefore, instead of selling the crop in the market, they are throwing onions on the streets in protest. One such news has come from Andhra Pradesh. The farmers there have to sell bananas at 50 paise per kg. Whereas at present banana is being sold at Rs 86 per kg in Amazon Fresh Fruits in Delhi.

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy has recently posted about the plight of banana farmers on social media platform X. In this post he writes that the condition of banana farmers of Andhra Pradesh is very bad. One kg banana is being sold for just 50 paise.

Farmers are not getting fair price

Jagan Mohan Reddy further wrote in his social media post that yes, you heard it right, fifty paise! This price is less than a match box and cheaper than a biscuit. Farmers invested lakhs of rupees and worked hard for months, but all they got was pain. It’s not just about bananas. From onion to tomato, farmers are not getting the right price for any crop. Neither free crop insurance nor any help was provided during natural disasters. All the promises that were made proved to be false.

Banana price in previous government

In the same post, he writes that during the time of the previous government, the average price of banana was Rs 25,000 per tonne (Rs 25 per kg). To save farmers from losses, special trains were run up to Delhi. Thousands of families were saved by this system. Cold storages were also built across the state to save farmers from being forced to sell their crops at low prices. But today, Chandrababu Naidu has left the farmers to their fate. They are silently watching how agriculture is being ruined. If the price of food today is 50 paise, then what is the value of the hands that grow it? This question is in the minds of farmers.
