Farooq Abdullah spoke after the attack, said- ‘I don’t know the attacker, I just felt the sound of firecrackers’

Tezzbuzz Desk- His first statement has come out after the attempted attack on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah late on Wednesday night. He said that he did not know the attacker and he also had no idea for what purpose the attack was carried out.

Talking to the media, Abdullah told that when he was coming out of a wedding ceremony, he suddenly heard a loud noise. Initially they thought it was the sound of firecrackers, because firecrackers are often burst during weddings. However, after a few moments the security personnel immediately put him in the car and told him that it was the sound of gunshot.

“I don’t know the person who tried to attack. I don’t even know what his motive was or whether there was any old rivalry,” he said.

Abdullah also raised questions on the security arrangements at the program after this incident. He said that many big people were present at the wedding ceremony, but there was not adequate police arrangement. According to him, special care should be taken of security in such events.

The former Chief Minister told that after the incident he had also received a call from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah inquired about his well-being and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter.

Farooq Abdullah said that the atmosphere of hatred is increasing in the country and divisions in the society seem to be deepening. According to him, every religion gives the message of love and brotherhood, but in the present times, the space for those who talk about friendship and love is decreasing.

He also said that the problem of terrorism is still serious in the country and in areas like Jammu and Kashmir and it is not easy to control it completely.

Abdullah said that it is natural to have differences of opinion in a democracy and everyone should have the right to express their views. He also said that the elected government should have adequate powers, only then the system can run properly.

He reminded the Central Government that a promise was made to reinstate statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and steps should be taken in this direction.
