Three years after its premiere, Raj and DK return with the second installment of Amazon Prime Video’s Farzi. O Romeo star Shahid Kapoor has shared the first glimpse of his character, Sunny, an artist who unexpectedly becomes entangled in the dangerous world of counterfeiters and illegal money operations.
Filming for Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s hit series Farzi has officially begun. The Hindi crime drama, created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, remains the platform’s most-watched Indian show. On March 7, Shahid Kapoor shared the first pictures from the Farzi sets, marking his reunion with The Family Man creators for the highly anticipated new chapter. The actor also offered fans a glimpse of his return as Sunny, teasing his look from the upcoming season. The first season of Farzi, which also starred Vijay Sethupathi and Raashii Khanna, premiered on February 10, 2023. Fans are now eagerly awaiting more updates and behind-the-scenes moments.
Shahid Kapoor Returns to the Sets of Farzi Season 2
It’s officially underway. Shahid Kapoor shared the first behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of Farzi Season 2 on his Instagram Stories, exciting fans. The first black-and-white image captured the actor in an intense discussion with the writer-director duo Raj & DK. Another photo offered a teasing glimpse of the Farzi Season 2 script, though it revealed no major details. The page was filled with pictures of Shahid in character as Sunny. Sharing the update, the actor wrote that the team was back on set, marking day one of shooting for the highly anticipated Hindi series.

The delay in Farzi’s return stems from creators Raj & DK juggling multiple projects, including Guns & Gulaabs, Citadel: Honey Bunny, The Family Man Season 3, and the unreleased Gulkanda Tales and Rakt Brahmand. Vijay Sethupathi portrays Michael Vedanayagam, a determined Special Task Force officer chasing Shahid Kapoor’s cunning counterfeiter, Sunny, relentlessly.

Michael also leads the Counterfeiting and Currency Fraud Analysis and Research Team, working alongside officer Megha, played by Raashii Khanna. Bhuvan Arora appears as Sunny’s loyal friend Firoz, while Kay Kay Menon portrays Mansoor Dalal, the powerful kingpin who operates and controls India’s vast counterfeit currency network across the country.
A Connection to The Family Man
Interestingly, Farzi shares a universe with The Family Mananother popular series on Amazon Prime Video. Several characters from the spy thriller, including Chellam played by Uday Mahesh, made cameo appearances in Farzi. Last year, Vijay Sethupathi reprised his role as Michael in the third season of The Family Manwhere he played a key role in assisting Srikant Tiwari, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee.

What Happened at the End of Farzi Season 1?
At the end of the first season in 2023, counterfeiter Mansoor burns down Sunny’s grandfather’s printing press with the old man trapped inside. Furious and grief-stricken, Sunny vows revenge and strikes back by setting Mansoor’s stash of counterfeit money on fire. Meanwhile, officer Michael finally gets a glimpse of Sunny and Firoz, realising who he is chasing. However, his colleague Megha remains unaware that the criminal she is hunting is actually Sunny, someone she considers a friend, complicating matters further ahead.
