Fast bowler Dale Steyn has given advice to batsmen on how to bat against hard length balls.

Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar exposed the weakness of the batsmen in the IPL match.

New Delhi. South African veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn said that currently the batsmen are not preparing enough for ‘hard length’ (balls bowled at the exact length) and Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar exposed this weakness of the batsmen in the IPL match played here on Monday. Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar destroyed Delhi Capitals’ batting by taking six wickets in the first four overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowled out Delhi for 75 runs in 16.3 overs and registered a comfortable win by nine wickets.

Steyn said batsmen are no longer afraid but they do not practice enough to face the right length deliveries from bowlers like Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar, Kagiso Rabada and Joffra Archer. Steyn wrote on They have no answer to such balls.

He said the fear is about technical skills. It is not possible to change this now. Keep watching as these bowlers maintain their dominance. It is not called ‘hard length’ for nothing. Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs, while explaining Steyn’s comment from the batting point of view, said that the batsmen do not play aggressively against these bowlers so that they can spoil their length. Gibbs said, no batsman is trying to spoil his length and score fast runs on him.
