Fast bowler Yash Dayal will not play in RCB in IPL 2026… Said Mo Bobat – Contract intact
Bengaluru: Controversy-ridden fast bowler Yash Dayal will not join the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the upcoming IPL season, but his contract with the franchise will continue. This information was given by the team’s cricket director Mo Bobat on Tuesday. This 28-year-old player has two cases of alleged sexual abuse registered against him. In this, one case is related to a minor.
He has not played any competitive cricket since playing in the 2025 IPL final for RCB. RCB won the title for the first time by winning that final.
“I can confirm that Yash will not be joining the team. He is going through a personal situation at the moment. We have supported him fully so far and this is also reflected in the decision to retain or release players,” Bobat said at a press conference held before the start of the season.
“We wanted to retain him in the team and he remains under contract. His contract will continue for the foreseeable future,” he said. Dayal, who recently married, has been accused of sexual exploitation by two women, including a minor. Bobat said that the franchise has maintained communication with him.
He said, “We are in regular touch with him. Even today I spoke to him. But at the moment it has been decided that it is in the best interest of both him and the franchise that he does not join the team.”
Bobat clarified that he would not comment further on this matter at this time. However, Dayal will continue to be supported by the franchise and will remain in communication with him. On the team combination, Bobat said that RCB has enough options to fill the void of Dayal. Mentioning Rasikh Salaam, Abhinandan Singh and Mangesh Yadav, he said that all three are good options and have performed brilliantly in the preparation camp. Despite this, Bobat admitted that Dayal’s absence is a blow to the team.
He said, “It is definitely a loss to have a player like Yash out. He has been an important member of the team for the last few years, but we have full confidence in our current options.” Bobat also expressed hope that Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will be able to join the team soon after recovering from injury.
