Fast food chain Long John Silver’s to shutter decade-old outlet at Singapore’s Tampines Mall

Long John Silver’s, a fast food chain specializing in seafood, is closing its outlet at the Tampines Mall in Singapore from March 3 after over a decade in operation.

The chain said in a Facebook announcement posted on Wednesday that its last day of service will be March 2.

“We greatly appreciate your support over these years,” it wrote.

The eatery, considered one of the icons of the mall, is among several established tenants to have left or announced plans to close in recent months, including French sports retailer Decathlon, Japanese department store Isetan and fellow fast food chain McDonald’s.

McDonald’s and Isetan had operated at the mall for around 30 years, according to AsiaOne.

Last year, Tampines Mall said it had launched an upgrade initiative to “deliver an elevated retail experience” for shoppers, featuring a new mix of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and dining brands. The revamp is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of this year, Channel News Asia reported.

The recent food and beverage closures at the mall also come amid a broader trend in Singapore’s food scene.

Some 2,431 F&B outlets in the city-state shut down in the first 10 months of 2025, including several Michelin-starred restaurants and long-established heritage eateries, according to The Business Times.
