Virat Kohli Fastest Batter To Score 16000 List A Runs
Fastest Batter To Score 16000 List A Runs: Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has broken the record for being the fastest batter to reach 16000 List A runs. He beat Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
Virat, considered one of the greatest ODI batters of all time, has reached the 16k mark in List A cricket in his first domestic one-day match appearance in about 15 years. While he is the ninth player to reach the milestone, he is the fastest ever to do so in terms of innings played.

List A cricket is a catch-all term for all ‘one-day’ cricket. These matches span from 40 to 60 overs per side. While One Day Internationals are prime examples of List A games, domestic leagues like India’s Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) are also included.
Speaking of VHT, Kohli is representing Delhi for the first time since 2010 in this competition. Before Delhi’s first match of the season against Andhra, Virat had 15999 runs in List A cricket. His first run in the match was also his 16000th in the format.
Kohli has reached the milestone in just 330 innings and 343 matches. This, in itself, is a record. Before today, the fastest player to reach 16000 runs in List A cricket was Tendulkar, who did so in 391 innings.
And while this record is quite impressive, it is only the latest in a long line of ‘fastest scoring’ records. In List A cricket, Kohli has been the fastest to make 10k, 11k, 12k, 13k, 14k, 15k, and now 16k runs.
In ODIs, Kohli is probably the greatest modern-day batter. In 296 innings in the international one-day format, he has scored 14557 runs with an average of 58.46. He also has a record 53 centuries in the format.
As good as that stat line reads, Kohli’s record in the Vijay Hazare is even more impressive. In just 13 matches in the competition, the 37-year-old has scored 819 runs at an average of 68.25.
Having retired from T20Is and Test cricket, Kohli is expected to play the majority of the VHT season. He will next represent India in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand at home, starting on January 11th, before playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026.
