Fatwa issued against Nora Fatehi in UP: Government also banned obscene song ‘Sarke Chunar’; Chaos across the country

Nora Fatehi Song:The controversy regarding actress Nera Fatehi’s recently released song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ has deepened. The government has banned this song. Meanwhile, now a fatwa has been issued against actress Nora Fatehi.

In Aligarh, UP, a religious organization has issued a fatwa against the actress regarding objectionable lyrics and scenes in her dance number ‘Sarke Chunar Gaane’. The song is part of the Kannada film KD: The Devil and has been a topic of debate on social media since its release.

Aligarh-based Muslim personal Darul Ifta has described the lyrics and visuals of the song as ‘objectionable’ and ‘against Islamic teachings’. Chief Mufti of the organization Maulana Ebrahim Hussain said that such material comes in the category of ‘Haram’ and ‘Gunah-e-Kabira’. According to him, participating in or promoting such songs is against religious principles.

Government also banned

Amidst the growing controversy regarding the song, the Central Government has also taken strict action. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed in the Lok Sabha that the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ has been banned. Even before this, many organizations had demanded removal of the song and action against the people involved in it.

Protest increased on social media

As soon as the song was released, there was a strong reaction on social media regarding its lyrics and presentation. Some users called it obscene, while some accused it of hurting religious sentiments. This controversy gained so much momentum that the matter reached the Parliament.

Nora Fatehi gave clarification

Amidst the controversy, Nora Fatehi released a video on Instagram and gave her clarification. He told that he had shot this song about three years ago and at that time he did not have complete knowledge of its Hindi version or lyrics.
According to Nora, she said yes to working in the film because it included big actors like Sanjay Dutt. He also said that he thought it was a remake of an old iconic song.

The film KD: The Devil is a period action drama, which is said to be inspired by the events of 1970s Bengaluru. The film is directed by Prem and many actors including Dhruv Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty Kundra will be seen in important roles. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on April 30.
