Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan’s starrer ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, is slated for release in India on October 2, 2024. However the political parties in the country are once again posing a serious obstacle to it. According to their statement, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) will stop the movie from being shown throughout the nation. “Will not entertain any Pakistani film or actors in India,” declared the party president.
In an interview, Ameya Khopkar, the president of the MNS Cinema Wing, declared that no Pakistani film or actor would be accepted in India. He urged the citizens of other states to oppose the release as well. “This movie will not be released. Not just this movie, we will not entertain any Pakistani film or actors in India… If this happens, there will be a strong agitation,” Khopkar told the media.
He claimed that to resist Pakistani actors’ existence in other states, he also contacts individuals and groups there. Voiced concern about the attacks on cities and the killings of soldiers at the borders. He questioned the necessity for Pakistani performers when there is so much talent in the country.
Mahira Khan’s starrer to ban in India?
He warned theater owners of the consequences, pointing out that they are aware of the expensive cost of the glass used in their establishments. Threatened to take legal action against any actor from Pakistan who tried to enter India. He stressed that they did not want art at the price of their warriors. Even though they understood the difference between politics and art, and they would stop such actors from entering the nation.
He said this should be taken seriously. The politician made it clear that they would not be allowed to enter India and that they would face consequences for their actions.
After the 2016 Uri terror assault, Pakistani singers were prohibited from performing in India. The Supreme Court denied an appeal in November 2023 that attempted to ban Pakistani performers and artists from working or touring in India. Both Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan have made past appearances in Indian cinema. Fawad starred in movies such as Khoobsurat and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, while Mahira debuted in Bollywood alongside SRK in Raees.
