FBI arrested Afghan man in America, he was planning terrorist attack on election day

Washington: In America, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested an Afghan man for planning an attack on the election day in the country. Officials say the arrested man was inspired by the terrorist organization Islamic State and was planning an attack targeting a large crowd on Election Day in America. The Justice Department gave this information.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhidi, 27, of Oklahoma City, told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned an attack on Election Day next month, according to charging documents. He also told authorities that he and one of his companions expected to die as martyrs after the attack.

Tauheed had made complete preparations

Giving information about this case, officials said that Tawhidi came to America in September 2021. Tawhidi had also taken some steps in recent weeks to carry out the attack plot. For this, he had ordered AK-47 rifles for complete preparation. Gradually he started selling his family's property and also bought air tickets to send his family, his wife and child to Afghanistan.

This arrest took place at a time when the FBI had expressed concerns about the possibility of a terrorist attack on American soil. FBI Director Christopher Wray told The Associated Press in August that “it was difficult for him to imagine that so many threats could come to his career at once.”

Wife refused to talk

“Terrorism remains the number one priority for the FBI,” Christopher Wray said in a statement Tuesday. “We will use every resource at our disposal to protect the American people.”

Although the FBI affidavit does not disclose the details of the Tawhidi investigation or how he came to the attention of authorities, it does cite evidence in recent months that implicates his involvement in planning the attack. Show.
