Fear of tax evasion on Ooty garlic seeds in Javad Mandi, demand for investigation intensified after viral video

Javad agricultural produce market of Neemuch district is once again in the news. A video going viral on social media has raised questions on the business of Ooty garlic seeds in the market. In the video, it is being claimed that Ooty garlic seeds are being seen being unloaded from a big trolley at an open place near the police station area on Neemuch Road.

After the matter came to light, farmers, traders and local people are keeping an eye on the entire incident. If the video is found to be true during investigation, it can become a serious matter related to market fees, trade of agricultural produce and compliance with government rules.

Questions raised on market system after viral video

In the video going viral on social media, it is being claimed that a trolley filled with Ooty garlic seeds was being emptied near the police station area on Neemuch Road instead of Javad Agricultural Produce Market. On this basis, questions are being raised whether an attempt was made to avoid market fees by doing business outside the market. If this happens, the possibility of loss to government revenue cannot be ruled out.

However, it would not be appropriate to reach any conclusion based only on the viral video. The authenticity of the video, the location shown in it and the nature of the goods can be confirmed only after investigation by the concerned department. At present no official statement has come from the administration. In such cases, the mandi administration, agriculture department and related agencies take further action only after examining the documents, transportation records and purchase-sale records.

Why is it important to follow mandi tax and rules?

Fixed rules apply to trade in agricultural produce markets. Records of the produce coming to the market are kept and market fees are collected as per rules. This fee is used to develop basic facilities, roads, water, storage and other arrangements for the farmers in the mandis. If any trader or businessman does business outside the market rules and it is confirmed in the investigation, then action can be taken under the relevant laws.

Ooty garlic seed business is considered important in Neemuch and surrounding areas. A large number of farmers and traders are involved in this business here. In such a situation, news of any kind of irregularity can affect the entire business environment. Experts believe that to maintain a transparent system, the mandi administration should monitor and investigate from time to time, so that the confidence of both farmers and traders is maintained.

At present only apprehensions are being expressed regarding the viral video. Only after the investigation of the concerned department and the official report comes, it will be clear whether there has actually been theft of market fee or not. If any irregularity is revealed in the investigation, action can be taken against the people responsible as per rules. If the claims made in the video are proved wrong then all the apprehensions related to it will also be put to rest. The final conclusion in such cases should be considered only on the basis of official investigation.
