FIFA World Cup 2026: Spain’s 4-0 victory with the goals of Yamal-Oyarjabal, Iran-Belgium match remained goalless

Atlanta. Thanks to goals from young forwards Lamin Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal, Spain defeated Saudi Arabia 4-0 in the Group H match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Spain displayed a brilliant offensive game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday night. Spain’s young forward Lamin Yamal gave the team an early lead by scoring a goal in the 10th minute.

He converted an excellent offensive move into a goal to put ‘La Roja’ (Spain’s team) ahead. Spain’s pressure remained constant in the match and Mikel Oyarzabal almost decided the outcome of the match within the first half hour by scoring two consecutive goals in the 21st and 24th minutes. Saudi Arabia found it difficult to cope with Spain’s high-pressing and brilliant passing combinations and were confined to their own area for most of the first half.

Goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais made several crucial saves to prevent further embarrassment, but he was unable to prevent further goals from being scored after the break. Saudi Arabia’s third goal came in an unfortunate manner (an own goal), when Hassan Al-Tambakti tried to stop a dangerous pass in the box and put the ball into his own net.

Spain continued to maintain possession of the ball in the second half and created several chances, although a late fifth goal from Ferran Torres was ruled out after a VAR review. After an hour of play, Saudi Arabia showed some intent but were unable to pose much of a threat as Spain’s midfield trio – Pedri, Rodri and Dani Olmo – easily controlled the pace of the game and maintained complete control of the game in the final moments. With this win, Spain strengthened its position at the top of Group H, while Saudi Arabia is under pressure after another defeat in the group stage.

Iran’s goalkeeper made brilliant saves. Alireza Beiranvand made a brilliant save to keep Iran in the match, the best of which was when he extended his hand to block a close-range shot from Maxime de Kuyper while he was lying on the ground. In front of them, Iran’s defense and midfield were very tight, creating less space between players and denying players like Kevin De Bruyne the opportunity to dominate the game.

In the second half, Ngoy lost the ball at the halfway line due to pressure from Taremi and Taremi snatched the ball and tackled Ngoy, for which he was shown a straight red card. After this, Iran took control of the game and created some chances, but could not capitalize on them. With this draw, points were distributed between both the teams.
