FIFA World Cup: Mzambi created history, scored 5 goals in the last 20 minutes; Switzerland beat Bosnia 4-1

FIFA World Cup Switzerland vs Bosnia Result: Switzerland has registered a historic victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina in an exciting match of Group B of the FIFA World Cup 2026. In this match played at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the Swiss team won 4-1, but more than this victory, the charisma that was seen in the last 20 minutes of the match is being talked about. This is the first time in football history that all five goals in a World Cup match have been scored after the 70th minute.

24 year old world record destroyed

The biggest hero of this spectacular victory of Switzerland was 20-year-old player Johann Manjambi. Manzambi came on the field as a substitute in the 72nd minute when the score of both the teams was 0-0. Within just two minutes of coming on the field (in the 74th minute), he scored a goal and gave the team a 1-0 lead. After this, in the 90th minute he scored his second goal and put the team ahead 3-0.

With this performance, Manjambi has registered its name in golden letters in the 96-year history of the World Cup. He became the youngest player in the history of the tournament to score two goals coming off the bench. He has broken the 24 year old record made in the 2002 World Cup.

Substitute players showed their magic on the field

This match will also be remembered for the dominance of the substitute players. Out of the total 5 goals scored in the match, 4 goals were scored by those players who were not part of the initial playing-11. Apart from Mzambi’s two goals for Switzerland, Ruben Vargas also scored from the bench.

At the same time, Erin Mehmik, who scored the only goal for Bosnia, also entered the field as a substitute. This is only the second match in World Cup history where substitute players have scored four or more goals. Earlier, this had happened in the match between Hungary and El Salvador in 1982.

Switzerland’s position strengthened in Group B

This victory was very important for Switzerland after playing its first match 1-1 draw against Qatar. With this 4-1 victory, the Swiss team not only secured full points but also improved its goal difference. Mzambi has now become the third youngest player to score a World Cup goal for Switzerland. Before him, only Alfred Bikel and Charles Antonen had achieved this feat at a younger age than him.
