FIH Hockey World Cup 2026: The Indian men’s national hockey team will go head-to-head against bitter rivals Pakistan in a Group D clash of the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 on August 19 at the Wegener Stadium in Amsterdam. With England and Wales also present in the same group alongside India and Pakistan, the competition amongst the sides will be a treat to watch.
The tournament will be hosted jointly by the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to 30.
The Indian women’s team is also placed in a challenging pool (D), alongside taking on China, England, and South Africa.
Both the Men’s and Women’s Indian teams will play their group matches in the Netherlands.
Germany, the defending champions, will enter the 2026 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, headlining a challenging Pool B alongside Belgium, France, and Malaysia.
One of the matches to watch will be the rematch of the 2023 final held in Bhubaneswar, where Germany defeated Belgium to clinch the title.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram noted that the event could serve as a global celebration of hockey’s growing reach and significance.
“In today’s fractured world, sport — and events such as this in particular — can play a substantial role in bringing people together. It can foster peace at times when our world is torn apart by conflict,” he said.
