Film producer Vikram Bhatt and his wife arrested, accused of fraud of Rs 30 crore

Mumbai: Famous film director Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt have been arrested by the Rajasthan Police in a case of alleged fraud of Rs 30 crore. This case is related to the complaint filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, owner of Udaipur-based Indira Group of Companies. The police have taken both of them into custody and have completed the necessary medical tests. After getting transit remand, he will be brought to Udaipur.

On what basis was the complaint made?

Dr. Murdia alleges that he was persuaded to invest money for a biopic based on the life of his late wife. According to the complaint, they were assured that the project would prove to be extremely profitable and had the potential to earn around Rs 200 crore. The allegation is also that many documents prepared in the name of film production were fabricated or misleading.

Apart from Vikram Bhatt and his wife, names of several other associates including Mehboob and Dinesh Kataria have also been registered in the complaint. The police had already issued notices to six other people in this case.

Vikram Bhatt’s side

After the FIR was registered, Vikram Bhatt, while talking to the media, described these allegations as completely baseless. He says that the complaint contains such things which make it appear that the police has been misled. He also said that it is possible that some documents may have been prepared in a false or fraudulent manner, on the basis of which this case was registered.

Accusation of stopping the film ‘Virat’ midway

The director also claimed that the film ‘Virat’, which has created controversy, was stopped midway by Dr. Murdia himself. According to him, the work was stopped even before the completion of the film, due to which the payment of about Rs 250 crore to the technicians and crew members is stuck. According to Vikram, this entire controversy may have been an attempt to avoid those outstanding payments.

Assurance of cooperation in investigation

Vikram Bhatt clarified that he and his wife are ready to cooperate fully in the investigation. He said that he has evidence to support every claim and if the police wants, he will provide all the documents. Bhatt says that as the investigation progresses, it will become clear what the reality is and from whose side the wrong information has been given.

further action in the case

After arrest and medical examination by the police, both will now be brought to Udaipur, where further interrogation will take place. This case has become a topic of much discussion in both the film industry and the business world, because huge money and famous personalities are involved in it.
