New Delhi 11 January 2026: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a pre-budget consultation meeting with states and union territories in New Delhi. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Governors of Manipur, Goa, Haryana, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir and Deputy Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana were present in this meeting.

Finance ministers and other ministers of states and union territories also participated. The Finance Ministry said that the participants had made several suggestions to the Finance Minister for the Union Budget 2026-27. Many participants stressed that the Special Assistance to States Scheme for Capital Investment (SASCI) will be continued with higher allocation. The budget session of Parliament is to start on 28th of this month.
