Finance Minister took stock of preparations at Lakshman Mela Ground Ghat
- Instructions to officials to keep the arrangements at Chhath Ghats tight

Lucknow, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Minister in-charge of Lucknow, Suresh Kumar Khanna, inspected the preparations at Laxman Mela Maidan Ghat today in view of the organization of Chhath Mahaparva. He directed the officials to make adequate arrangements for easy entry and exit of the devotees coming to the ghats. Arrangements for alternative entry and exit points should also be made.
While congratulating all the people of the state on the occasion of Chhath festival, Shri Khanna appealed to all the worshipers to cooperate in celebrating a clean, safe, zero waste, plastic free festival and keeping the Gomti river pollution free. He inspected the arrangements being made in the ghats and roads for Chhath Puja, beautification, repair of ghats, cleanliness, lighting and security arrangements. He gave necessary instructions to the officials to tighten the arrangements at Chhath Ghats. He said that like previous years, this year too the devotees will not face any problem. He said that devotees celebrate this festival with full devotion and faith by offering Arghya to the Sun God to fulfill their wishes.
The minister in charge said that there should be better arrangements for cleanliness at the ghats. Dustbins should be placed on the ghats to ensure single-use plastic is not used and garbage does not spread here and there. People should be made aware to ensure that puja material does not flow into the river. In order for the people of the city to celebrate Chhath festival in a divine and grand manner, the ghats should be beautified so that the devotees feel complete peace and happiness. Barricading should be done in the river to avoid going into deep water. Water police and divers should also be deployed to deal with any situation. Adequate lighting arrangements should be made in Chhath ghats and routes. During Chhath, there should be deployment of sanitation workers, machines, personnel and officers, perform their responsibilities with promptness.
There should be arrangements for tankers to supply pure drinking water to the devotees at the ghats. There should be no filth in the ghats, there should be adequate provision of mobile toilets. Special attention should be paid to the safety of women and children. Prabhunath Rai of Bhojpuri community, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Chief Engineer and Municipal Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
