Know who are those seven MPs? Those who will leave AAP and join BJP
New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party. He announced this in a press conference on Friday and also announced merger with BJP. Raghav Chadha along with himself named seven more names who are going to join BJP. Interestingly, Ashok Mittal, who was made the deputy leader in Rajya Sabha by removing Raghav Chadha 15 days ago, is also now joining BJP.

According to Raghav Chadha, all the MPs have signed the documents in this regard and they have been handed over to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. Three MPs were present with him during this press conference, while others include Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni and Swati Maliwal.
Raghav Chadha
Raghav Chadha, a chartered accountant, joined the Aam Aadmi Party during the Anna Hazare movement around 2012 and became a close aide of Arvind Kejriwal. He handled the party’s economic and media strategy in Delhi, later being active in Punjab as well. Elected Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab in 2022 and emerged as a young face in the party. He is known for his powerful speeches in Parliament, but recently he has announced to leave AAP after differences with the party leadership.
Ashok Kumar Mittal

Ashok Kumar Mittal is a successful industrialist. He comes from a prominent business family of Punjab and has been active in social work for a long time. In 2022, AAP sent him to Rajya Sabha from Punjab. In April 2026 itself, Aam Aadmi Party made him the deputy leader in Rajya Sabha.
Sandeep Pathak
Sandeep Pathak is an old worker of Aam Aadmi Party. He has been associated with the party’s grassroots level activism in Punjab politics. Pathak became Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab in the year 2022. He held various responsibilities in the Punjab unit of the party. Now he along with Raghav Chadha has talked about resigning from AAP and joining BJP.
Harbhajan Singh
Former Indian spin bowler Harbhajan Singh came into politics from the world of cricket. Harbhajan, who hails from Jalandhar region of Punjab, reached Rajya Sabha in 2022 on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. He has been speaking on issues related to sports, youth and Punjabi culture, although he has been relatively less active in political activities. Raghav Chadha has said that Harbhajan Singh will also leave Aam Aadmi Party and join BJP.

Vikramjit Singh Sahni
Vikramjit Singh Sahni also comes from an industrialist family of Punjab and ran many institutions in the education sector. He also did humanitarian work like helping the people of Sikh-Hindu community from Afghanistan. In 2022, Aam Aadmi Party made him Rajya Sabha MP. According to Raghav, Sahni may also join BJP soon.
Swati Maliwal
Swati Maliwal has been a Rajya Sabha MP representing Delhi from the Aam Aadmi Party and has been recognized as a vocal women’s rights activist. From 2015 to 2024, she was the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), where she took a tough stance on cases like acid attacks, human trafficking and sexual harassment. However, she has been in the news in recent times due to differences within the party and the alleged controversy related to the Chief Minister’s residence.
Rajinder Gupta
Rajinder Gupta is a big industrialist of Punjab. He is the founder and chairman of Trident Group. According to media reports, Rajinder Gupta is the richest person from Punjab. Rajinder Gupta was born on 2 January 1959. The headquarters of Trident Group is located in Ludhiana, Punjab. Major industries of this group include home textiles, paper manufacturing, chemicals and power. His role in politics was further strengthened when the Aam Aadmi Party sent him to Parliament as a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab.
