Sambhal SP K.K. Bishnoi said that 15 policemen and 4 officers were injured in the violence outside Jama Masjid. SDM got injured in his leg while trying to avoid stone pelting. After this he has filed an FIR against 800 rioters. Apart from this, SP's PRO and CO were shot in the legs. So far 25 people have been arrested in this case.

He said that after the order of the court (Sambhal Violence), a committee of SDM and other officers was formed. He was responsible for the survey of the mosque. At present Section 163 is in force in Sambhal. But now the situation is under control. Shops have also opened at some places. But we have requested the District Magistrate to shut down the internet as a precautionary measure.

Earlier, the police had registered a case against Samajwadi Party MP Ziaur Rahman Burke and local MLA's son Sohail Iqbal. Samajwadi Party MPs are accused of systematically inciting violence and instigating the mob. Police officials said Ziaur Rehman Burke's provocative statements about the mosque survey enraged the crowd and violence broke out.
