According to the complaint, the controversy started after a video was shared from the official social media accounts of these leaders on December 17 and 18, 2025. It is alleged that in this video, Santa Claus, the respected religious-cultural symbol of the Christian community, was presented in a very funny and insulting manner.

Allegations of objectionable depiction in the video
The complainant says that in the video Santa Claus is shown falling unconscious on the road. He was used as a ‘prop’ to convey a political message rather than as a serious religious personality. A part of the video showed Santa Claus giving fake CPR (life saving procedure), which Christian society considered a mockery of the sanctity of St. Nicholas and the Christmas festival.

‘Conspiracy to hurt religious sentiments’
The FIR mentions that this act was done deliberately and maliciously. Sharing such a video, especially in the last days of ‘Advent’ (the holy time before Christmas), shows disrespect towards Christianity. The Christian community believes that such public mockery of a sacred symbol for political gain is a deep blow to their faith.
