“FIR to be registered against Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand in sexual exploitation case” – Times Bull
New Delhi: Trouble has suddenly increased for Shankaracharya Avikuteshwarananda Saraswati of the Jyotirmath Peetha in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. A major order has been issued by the ADJ and POCSO Special Court in Prayagraj regarding allegations of sexual abuse against Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati. The court has directed that a case be registered and an investigation commence soon.
The Prayagraj court has issued this order. Following the court’s direction, the case will now be registered at the Jhunsi police station. Shakumbhari Peetadhishwar Ashutosh Brahmachari Maharaj filed this petition under Section 173 (4) of the IPC, demanding strict action from the court.
The two minors who accused him of sexual abuse appeared via videography on February 13th. The court took cognizance of the police report and reserved its decision after the hearing. Now, with the court’s order, action against Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda is expected to be tightened.
