Palamu: A sudden fire broke out in a goods train compartment at Mohammadganj station of East Central Railway in Palamu on Wednesday morning. The incident happened around 7 in the morning. Station master Amrish Bhartiya posted at the station immediately informed the driver of the goods train about the fire. The train was immediately stopped and the fire was brought under control after a lot of effort by the station master and other railway personnel.

The station master told that there was a fire in the 7th compartment of this goods train laden with coal. The fire was extinguished in time, due to which a major accident was averted. If the fire had spread, there could have been huge loss to coal and trains worth crores of rupees. After the fire was extinguished, the affected coach of the goods train was separated from other coaches. After this all the coaches of the train were checked. After making sure, the train was sent towards its destination. Due to the alertness and prompt action of station master Amrish Bhartiya, major damage to the train and coal was saved. The personnel present on the spot also played an important role in extinguishing the fire.
