Fire victims will now get immediate treatment; Included in serious diseases, guidelines issued by the Center
New Delhi : Many important decisions are being taken by the central government for the benefit of the people. To provide relief to the general public, patients affected by fire incidents will no longer be kept on ‘waiting’ in hospitals without treatment. The central government has clarified that if hospital treatment is not available, the patient’s condition should be stabilized and proper treatment Transfer to a hospital if possible.
Oftentimes due to lack of medical resources there is no longer any reason to delay treatment or to delay treatment for hours. These instructions are contained in the Standard Guidelines for Burn Treatment 2025 implemented across the country by the Central Government. For the first time, responsibilities for burn treatment have been defined at all three levels – Primary Health Center (PHC), District Hospital and Medical College. Under the new norms, Primary Health Centers have been given the responsibility of writing treatment for the first time. Primary health centers are now required to provide first aid for patients with mild burns (less than 10%). They will have facilities for cooling, dressing and tetanus injections. Assessment of the patient’s condition and timely referral will be mandatory.
These standards issued to the states were selected by the central government on the recommendation of a joint committee of 21 doctors. Even today, fire victims are kept in hospitals for hours, increasing the risk of infection and death, medical officials said. According to government statistics, 60 to 70 lakh people suffer from burns every year in India, while 1 to 1.5 lakh patients die.
If there are no facilities, take them to another hospital
If the facilities are not available, it will be considered wrong to keep the patient there. In such cases, the patient has to be referred directly to the district hospital. Similar rules will apply to district hospitals and if the facilities are not available, the patient will have to be referred to the medical college immediately.
