First caste will have to be erased from the mind… RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said during the program – Casteism will end in 10 to 12 years

New Delhi : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has given an important and clear statement regarding the caste discrimination present in the society. He said that casteism can be eliminated not by law or pressure, but by changing people’s thinking. If this evil is really to be eradicated from the society, then first of all the feeling of caste has to be eliminated from the mind of the individual.

Public seminar organized on the occasion of centenary year
Let us tell you that Mohan Bhagwat expressed these views during a public seminar organized to commemorate the centenary of RSS. In this program he interacted directly with the common people and answered various questions related to the society. Provincial union leader Anil Bhalerao was also present with him on the stage. In his address, Bhagwat presented in detail the ideology of the Sangh, social harmony and nation building.

Caste was related to profession, not discrimination
Talking about the historical background of the caste system, Mohan Bhagwat said that in ancient times, caste was related to a person’s work and profession. Its purpose was to organize the functioning of the society, not to show anyone high or low. But with time this system became rigid and became a cause of discrimination in the society. This distortion harmed social unity.

If caste is erased from mind then society will change
Bhagwat said in clear words that the most effective way to end casteism is mental change. He said that if people honestly remove caste sentiments from their minds, then casteism can be eliminated from the society within 10 to 12 years. According to him, as long as the mindset of discrimination persists within the individual, external measures cannot provide permanent solutions.

Objective of the Sangh: To move forward by taking the society together
In response to the questions asked during the seminar, Mohan Bhagwat also clarified the objective of RSS. He said that the aim of the Sangh is to take India to its best glory, but this work should be done by taking the society along. The Sangh is not an organization formed as a reaction nor does it compete with anyone. Its basic function is to build the nation through character building of the individual.

The Sangh wants to make the society bigger, not itself.
Mohan Bhagwat also said that RSS does not try to make itself big. Its objective is to make the society strong, organized and self-reliant. He appealed to the people that if they want to truly understand the Sangh, then instead of seeing its ideology from a distance, they should come and experience its ideology. According to him, the real identity of the Sangh is visible in its daily work and efforts for social harmony.
