First meeting of 8th Pay Commission, 1 big good news for employees

New Delhi. An important update has come out for government employees and pensioners. The 8th Pay Commission team will hold its first meeting on 24 April 2026 in Dehradun. The objective of this meeting is to take suggestions and experiences from employees, pensioners, unions and other concerned organizations, so that further recommendations can be prepared.

The Commission has clarified that any organization or employee wishing to participate in the meeting, it is mandatory to take an appointment first. For this, interested people will have to apply through email by 10 April 2026. Only after this they will be told the time and place of the meeting.

Online suggestion option also available

Apart from this, the Commission has also provided the facility for all stakeholders to give suggestions through online medium. Employees, pensioners and unions are allowed to send their demands and suggestions on the official website of the Commission. The last date for giving suggestions has been fixed as 30 April 2026.

Let us tell you that this step is important because the salary, allowances and pension of lakhs of government employees are decided on the basis of the recommendations of the Pay Commission. The Commission had also sought information from the employees on their salary, pension and work-related experiences.

Background of 8th Pay Commission

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted in November 2025. The commission has been given 18 months to submit its recommendations. Till the new recommendations are implemented, employees and pensioners will continue to receive salary and pension as per the old system.

The Commission has identified this process as particularly important and has ensured that the views of all stakeholders are taken into account. This meeting and online suggestion process will give employees an opportunity to convey their voice directly to the Commission.
