Five franchises with the biggest amount before the mega auction of IPL 2025
Mumbai Mumbai. The IPL 2025 mega auction is scheduled to begin on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The mega auction will decide how all 10 franchises shape up for the next three years and how they can find a way to win the IPL title. The eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is rumored to begin on 14 March and the final will probably be played on 25 May. A total of Rs 641.50 crore can be spent by all 10 franchises to fill the 204 slots. Around 70 slots have been reserved for foreign players in the 10 teams. Franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are looking for captains and this will make the competition even more exciting. Let's take a look at all 10 IPL franchises and their purses ahead of the mega auction. 1. Punjab Kings: Rs 1.50 crore purse in auction, Rs 110.5 crore
Like every other auction, Punjab Kings aka PBKS has the biggest purse. Punjab have taken the path less traveled and retained only two uncapped players in Shashank Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh. The Punjab-based franchise will be the busiest on the auction table and they will be building the entire team from scratch.
2. Royal Challengers Bangalore: Auction purse of Rs 83 crore
Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the two franchises that have never won the IPL despite playing in the finals. RCB surprised everyone with just three retentions, Virat Kohli (capped), Rajat Patidar (capped) and Yash Dayal (uncapped). The franchise synonymous with Kohli will also have a number of slots to fill and ensure that their core remains stable for the next three years.
3. Delhi Capitals: Auction purse of Rs 73 crore
IPL 2020 finalists, Delhi Capitals surprised everyone by letting go of their captain Rishabh Pant. Delhi retained only four players in the form of Axar Patel (capped), Kuldeep Yadav (capped), Tristan Stubbs (capped) and Abhishek Porel (uncapped).
4. Lucknow Super Giants: Purse of Rs 69 crore
Lucknow Super Giants are fairly new to the IPL setup and have already played two playoffs in three years. The team performed well under the leadership of KL Rahul, but still he was not retained by the franchise. The Lucknow-based franchise retained Nicholas Pooran (capped), Ravi Bishnoi (capped), Mayank Yadav (capped), Ayush Badoni (uncapped) and Mohsin Khan (uncapped). If Lucknow does not want Puran to captain the team then they will need a captain.
5. Gujarat Titans: Purse of Rs 69 crore
After winning an IPL title and playing in two consecutive finals, Gujarat Titans have not looked the same team since Hardik Pandya's departure. Gujarat did not retain Mohammed Shami and this could be because of his injury. The Gujarat-based franchise has retained Rashid Khan (capped), Shubman Gill (capped), Sai Sudarshan (capped), Rahul Tewatia (uncapped) and Sharukh Khan (uncapped).
