Fog causes over 100 flights to be cancelled, passengers in distress, know

New Delhi: Severe cold and dense fog are gripping many parts of the country, including Delhi-NCR. Major cities and even rural towns are shrouded in fog. This is now impacting operations. Due to reduced visibility caused by the fog, more than a hundred flights were canceled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning.

Some flights are also experiencing delays. Airlines have issued advisories urging passengers to check for complete flight information. According to information available on the Delhi airport’s official website, more than 50 departing flights and a similar number of arriving flights have been canceled so far. This is causing considerable inconvenience to passengers.

Ministry had issued guidelines

The previous day, on Friday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued guidelines stating that airlines must provide passengers with advance and accurate information regarding flight delays, schedule changes, or cancellations.

Furthermore, if a delay is announced at the last minute, this information must also be provided to minimize passenger inconvenience. If the delay exceeds a certain limit, passengers must be provided with refreshments. No additional charges will be levied in case of rescheduling. If the delay extends beyond a certain time at night, hotel accommodation must be provided.
