After car incident in Delhi Assembly, now ‘suicide bomb’ threat, mention of Khalistan in email, security agencies alert

The Delhi Assembly received a threatening email on Thursday morning, allegedly threatening a suicide attack. Immediately after receiving the email, security agencies and police came on alert and a thorough investigation into the matter has been started. Police officials are currently trying to identify the authenticity and source of the email. Besides, security has been tightened in the assembly premises and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident.

Delhi Assembly received the threatening email at 8:14 am on Thursday. The subject line of the email read in capital letters: “B’0mb Blast Delhi Secrétariat!!”. Security experts said that the language and tone of this threatening message is extremely shocking. The phrasing and style used in this email increased the seriousness and threat of the message. Immediately after the incident, police and security agencies came on alert and started investigating the authenticity of the email. Security has been tightened in the assembly complex and surrounding areas.

Police engaged in investigation

Security experts said such language has forced agencies to investigate whether any banned separatist organization is involved or it is just someone’s mischief. The person making the threat has not only mentioned the Assembly but has also mentioned the school, CM Gupta and Kashmir Metro in the email, making the matter more sensitive. Police and security agencies are currently investigating the authenticity, source and suspicious links of the email and security has been tightened in the assembly complex and surrounding areas.

The car had entered by breaking the gate on Monday

A sensational incident came to light in the Delhi Assembly on Monday. A person entered the premises by breaking the iron doors of the assembly in a speeding car. This person took entry from Gate No. 2, which was reserved for VIP entry, and placed a bouquet of flowers near the car of Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta. After this the person absconded. The incident exposed shortcomings in the security arrangements in the capital and forced security agencies to impose strict security measures in the Assembly complex.

After the incident of entry by a speeding car, Bomb Disposal Squad and Crime Branch teams were immediately rushed to the spot, but no suspicious object was found. According to the information, the car with the registration number of Uttar Pradesh had entered the assembly at around 2 pm. The police took swift action in the case and arrested the accused Sarabjit Singh. On Tuesday, the accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate, who granted police eight-day police custody of the accused.
