Due to rising costs and expensive commercial LPG cylinders, restaurant owners are preparing to increase menu prices.
Operating cost increased by 20%
According to organizations in the hotel and restaurant sector, operating costs have increased by about 15–20% in the recent past. According to the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI), costs related to fuel, transport and kitchen are continuously increasing, putting small and mid-range restaurants under the most pressure.
Association representatives say that

Commercial LPG increased the problem
The biggest blow to the restaurant industry has been the recent increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders. There has been a huge increase in the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders since April 1:
- Delhi: ₹2,078.50
- Kolkata: ₹2,208
- Mumbai: Increase of about ₹ 196
- Chennai: Increase to ₹203
This increase has directly affected the kitchen cost, due to which the increase in food prices is considered almost certain.
