For how long will Muslims be considered only as vote bank? AIMIM leader Mufti Usama Nadvi’s big attack on India alliance

Since the Lok Sabha elections, there has been a tussle in the opposition camp regarding share and representation. Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has launched a major political attack on opposition unity. AIMIM’s Kanpur in-charge and senior High Court advocate Mufta Usama Nadvi, while talking to UPUKLive, has clearly said that ‘India’ alliance is completely incomplete without Muslim faces. He sarcastically said that just as salt is needed in food, similarly participation of every society is necessary in democracy.

In fact, this statement of Nadvi has come at a time when there is a continuous debate regarding the representation of minorities in the country’s politics. The AIMIM leader has directly questioned the intentions of the opposition parties. He asked that Muslims form a very large part of the population of this country, but still why do their voice, their participation and their leadership seem to be missing in politics? After all, why are the parties claiming secular politics hesitating to promote Muslims?

After all, why fear political participation of Muslims?

Mufti Usama Nadvi in her statement has raised deep questions on the intentions of political parties. He asked, “We want to ask clearly, why is there so much fear of political participation of Muslims? Are Muslims left in this country only to vote? Do they have no right to lead and participate in the major decision-making process of the country?”

It is being told that AIMIM is preparing to launch a big campaign on the ground regarding this issue. The party believes that the so-called secular parties take the votes of Muslims in elections, but when it comes to giving them rights and shares, they are pushed to the margins.

Not just vote bank, now we need equal respect

Advocate Nadvi insisted that now the water has gone above the head. The Muslim community is no longer ready to remain merely an election pawn. He said, “We are not begging from anyone, but talking about equality, respect and participation. Our only demand is that Muslims should be stopped from being used only as a vote bank. They should get a proper and respectable place in the leadership and decision-making process of the country.”

In fact, in a big state like UP, the role of Muslim voters is considered very decisive. Despite this, voices have started being raised from within the society itself on the declining number of Muslim leaders in mainstream politics.

Democracy will be strengthened only with strong Muslim representation

Mufti Usama Nadvi, outlining the definition of democracy, said that only a strong Muslim representation can strengthen the democracy of this country. Justice, equality and true participation of every section are the real identity of any true democracy. If a large population of the country feels politically isolated, democracy can never be complete. Now it remains to be seen how the big leaders of the India alliance react to this direct attack by AIMIM.
