For the first time in the history of IPL, such a great miracle happened. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Jadeja created history together.

Even though the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) has reached its final stages, the process of making records is not stopping. In the Qualifier-2 match played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), a unique and incredible mega-record has been created, which has never been seen before in the 19-year history of IPL.

This is the first time in the history of the league that two same batsmen have made half-century (50+) partnerships twice for two different wickets during the same innings. This amazing feat has been achieved by the pair of Rajasthan Royals’ young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

When Jadeja ‘retired hurt’, the drama-filled record started again

Rajasthan Royals had a very bad start in the Qualifier-2 match and their two wickets fell very quickly. To handle the innings, the team management of Royals played a big gamble and sent Ravindra Jadeja to bat at number 5. Jadeja played a great role with the opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi present at the crease and both of them started batting aggressively.

These two batsmen just scored for the third wicket. Stormy partnership of 73 runs unbeaten in 37 balls Did it. But meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja unfortunately got injured and was forced to leave the field after being ‘retired hurt’.

Jadeja came on the field again and made a world record

After Jadeja left the field, Rajasthan Royals’ innings once again faltered and the team lost 3 more wickets in no time. When the team’s sixth wicket fell, Ravindra Jadeja, ignoring his injury, once again came on the field to bat. Young Vaibhav Suryavanshi was still standing at the crease.

Both these players started again from where they had left their innings and made another explosive half-century partnership of 54 runs in just 28 balls for the sixth wicket. In this way, for the first time in IPL, two players made a partnership of more than 50 runs twice in the same match. This record can now be broken only if a pair makes three half-century partnerships in an innings or plays century innings, which is almost impossible.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s strong attack, but Shubman Gill’s century made the difference

In this historic match, 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed his class and played a blazing inning of 96 runs in 47 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 skyscraper sixes. He was just 4 runs away from his century when he was caught by Prasidh Krishna off the ball of Kagiso Rabada. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja, batting in two instalments, scored unbeaten 45 runs in 35 balls. In the last overs, Donavan Ferreira also played a cameo of 38 runs in 11 balls, due to which Rajasthan scored a huge score of 214 runs for 6 wickets.

However, this huge score of Rajasthan Royals and the world record of Vaibhav-Jadeja also proved to be pale in front of the storm of Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill. Thanks to Shubman Gill’s brilliant Atishi century (104 runs in 53 balls), Gujarat Titans achieved this big target in just 18.4 overs and secured their place in the final. Shubhman Gill was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning century.
