Ford Recall: More than 5.48 lakh Ford SUVs recalled, center console fault became the reason

Ford Recall: Even small safety flaws in vehicles can pose serious risks. Keeping this in mind, Ford Motor Company has announced the recall of more than 5.48 lakh vehicles in America. According to the company, some Ford Expedition SUVs have been found to have a problem with a part of the center console that could cause injury to passengers.

What is the problem?
According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the chrome trim plate on the center console of the affected vehicles may deteriorate over time. In this process, bubbles start forming on the surface of the plating and gradually its layer can crumble.

When this layer peels off, its edges become sharp and pointed, increasing the risk of cuts or injuries to vehicle occupants.

Which vehicles were affected?
This recall applies to certain Ford Expedition vehicles from the 2018 to 2024 model years. A total of 5,48,463 SUVs have been affected under this campaign.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the chrome trim part used in the center console was not manufactured by the supplier in accordance with Ford’s prescribed manufacturing standards. For this reason, the problem of malfunction and peeling of the layer was observed with time.

How serious is this threat?
Even though this problem is not related to any mechanical or engine failure, it is being considered serious from the point of view of passenger safety. The sharp edges on the center console may cause injury if they come in contact with the hands or body.

In view of this potential risk, Ford has decided to recall the affected vehicles. The company will replace or repair defective parts, if necessary, to ensure the safety of passengers.

safety priority
Recall campaigns in the automobile industry are usually conducted to ensure the safety of customers. This step of Ford has also been taken in this direction, so that the risk of possible accidents and injuries can be reduced in time.
