Forest department takes big action against wood mafia in Morena, vehicle full of wood seized

Well, complaints have been continuously coming up in many districts of Madhya Pradesh regarding illegal cutting and smuggling of wood. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has achieved great success by capturing a loading vehicle in Jaura, Morena. A large quantity of Khair wood was loaded in the vehicle. During initial investigation, the driver could not produce valid documents related to the wood, after which the vehicle and the wood were confiscated.

Before this action, the Forest Department had received secret information that a vehicle loaded with peeled wood from Khair was going to pass through the area. After receiving the information, the department team increased surveillance in Pagara Kothi and Sumawali areas. Meanwhile a suspicious vehicle appeared. The team tried to stop him, but the driver escaped with the vehicle. After this, the forest staff chased the vehicle and caught it near Tekri on National Highway-3. During investigation, a huge quantity of Khair wood was found inside the vehicle.

After the action of the Forest Department, now investigation has been started not only of the vehicle drivers but also of the entire smuggling network. During interrogation, the driver told that he was taking the wood towards Ratlam. The investigating agencies are now trying to find out from where the wood was cut, who bought and sold it and what was its final destination.

According to sources, names of some other people have also emerged in the case, whose role is being investigated. However, the department has not yet issued an official statement against anyone. Officials believe that if the investigation confirms a big network, more arrests may be made in the coming days.

Khair tree is considered an important part of forest wealth. Its wood and the substances extracted from it are used in many industries. This is the reason why cases of illegal felling and smuggling keep coming up from time to time. According to Forest Department officials, cutting and transporting wells without permission is a legal offense and strict action is taken if found guilty.

This action in Morena has once again raised many questions. If the vehicle loaded with wood was going out of the district then why was it not checked at other monitoring points on the way. Investigating agencies are also looking into this aspect. The Forest Department has made it clear that the matter will be investigated impartially and legal action will be taken against any person found involved in illegal smuggling.
