Additional recovery option will be a new feature

Follow these steps to add a selfie video

The company has not yet rolled out this feature for all users. First of all you have to check the eligibility. You can check if the new feature has been rolled out for your device by typing g.co/signin-selfie in the browser. If this feature is available for your device, you will see an option to record a short video of the face.

To enroll in this feature, open the Selfie Video Setup page and follow Google’s rules. Throughout this process, keep looking into the device’s camera and follow the rules and head movements. Meanwhile, the camera will capture your face from different angles. After this, your selfie video will be saved in Google account in a secure manner.

How can record video be beneficial?

In future if you are not able to access Google account from your device, you are facing some problems or you have forgotten the password then you will get selfie verification option for recovery of Google account. You will then be prompted to record a new video. Then Google will compare that video with the previously saved video and after identification you will get access to your Google account.

Google has said that this video will be stored after the permission given by the users. Videos are fully encrypted while stored and can be deleted at any time. Google also said that it has implemented several security checks to prevent spoofing.
